Introducing the new Frankford Boat Launch Master Site Plan, a project begun in 2022 with the help of committed stakeholders. The plan sets a long-term vision for a revitalized park that will enhance recreational amenities, address infrastructure and maintenance needs, and accommodate a variety of experiences for a trailhead park on a multi-use trail.
One of just three public boat launches in Philadelphia, the Frankford Boat Launch redesign will improve boat access to ensure residents can make the most out of the river.
New features include an ADA-accessible permanent dock, ADA-accessible play area, shade structures, shoreline restoration, and expanded stormwater runoff management. The project will be phased over the next 10 years, starting with shoreline and dock improvements. Fundraising is currently underway to advance the plan into full construction documents and permitting.
The community-driven plan was guided by neighboring communities, boaters, fishers, and park users. It responds to their wishes to boat, fish, picnic, and learn about nature at the Frankford Boat Launch.
