The Delaware River City Corporation (DRCC), a non-profit dedicated to creating an 11-mile network of riverfront trails and parks in Northeast Philadelphia, will host the Greenway 5K Run/Walk, presented by Just Born Inc., on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m., starting at the Frankford Boat Launch.
The 4th annual event will bring community members of all abilities together to support the North Delaware Riverfront Greenway and future enhancements to the parks and trails that it encompasses. Participants are encouraged to register in advance to reserve their spot. Rates are $25 for adult 5k runners, $20 for adult walkers, $10 for teens (ages 13 to 18) and free for kids under 13. Day-of registration will be available starting at 7:30 a.m. near the starting line at the Frankford Boat Launch.
The 3.1 mile course runs north from the Frankford Boat Launch up the newly opened K&T Trail and loops back around to finish back at the boat launch. This flat and scenic course is perfect for first time 5k runners.
The Greenway 5k is a family-friendly event. The top adult male and female runners, as well as the top two kids (under 13) will receive a prize.
