Riverfront North Partnership announces first recipients of Bridesburg Impact Grants

(April 20th, 2020 – Philadelphia, PA) – Riverfront North Partnership is pleased to announce the first recipients of Bridesburg Impact Grants.  This program launched in March 2020 and offers $500 mini-grants for ideas that enhance community life  within Bridesburg – and ultimately the new Bridesburg Riverfront Park. Projects are funded in three categories:

  • Nature or Outdoor-based Activities
  • Community Building
  • Intergenerational Activities

Applications are reviewed and grants awarded by a group of Bridesburg residents and Riverfront North staff.  March 2020 recipients are:

Bridesburg 5K – created to support the Bridesburg Memorial Day Parade ten years ago, this annual event brings Bridesburg residents together around health and fitness.  Although this year’s race has been postponed due to restrictions around social distancing, it WILL happen in the coming months.

Trish Houck/Community Art Mural – Trish Houck will partner with local groups to create a public mural with plastic lids that cannot be recycled.  Start saving your lids and be on the lookout for more information about its installation later this summer.

United Veterans of Bridesburg Parade Organization – One of the most beloved traditions in Bridesburg is the parade that honors individuals who have served in America’s armed forces, past and present.  BIG funds are helping to purchase the American flags to line the parade route.

Riverfront North is accepting applications on a rolling basis through August 1st, and welcomes ideas that address needs related to the Covid-19 crisis.  Projects and programs must take place in the Bridesburg 19137 neighborhood.  These grants are made possible by funding from the William Penn Foundation.
