5 Things to do along Riverfront North this October…

Fall in love with fall along Riverfront North’s many trails and parks! Here are 5 fun things to try this month:

  5. Catch a movie by the river…

That’s right! We’re hosting free outdoor movies in the river parks. This month catch the throwback classic, OG “Space Jam” with MJ at Pennypack on the Delaware Tuesday, October 5th, or if spooky is more your speed, join us for halloween classic “Hocus Pocus” at Glen Foerd Mansion on Tuesday Oct. 19th.   4. Go on a story walk in the woods…

Once upon a time, you discovered a beautiful woodsy riverfront trail, right in your backyard in Northeast Philly. If you’ve never visited before, you MUST check out Pennypack on the Delaware Park’s north woods. There you will find more than a few hidden gems, including an off-the-beaten-path riverside trail, where you might spot fox, owls, migrating birds or even some deer. Our friends from Youth Volunteer Corps have installed nine story stations along the route and have written their own nature tale based on the biodiversity of the park you are walking through! More info here.

  3. Learn to fish…

Never cast a line? No problem, we’ll make you an angler in no time! No experience needed for these free drop-ins at the Frankford Boat Launch and Pleasant Hill Park. Let the experts from MidAtlantic Youth Anglers & Outdoors Partners teach you the basics, or improve your luck with the rod and reel. All ages and abilities welcome! It’s a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon along the river. Check out the fishing info here.

  2.  Try your hand at archery…

Archery in the city? You heard right! Try your hand at this unique experience right along the river in Pennypack on the Delaware with our friends from Let’s Go Outdoors on Saturdays in October from 1-3pm. Pre-register or drop in for this FREE experience that you won’t forgot (and will look great on your instagram feed). More info here.

  1. Become a tree lover…

This month we are really spreading the tree love all across Northeast Philly.

Riverfront North Partnership and TTF Watershed Partnership  are teaming up with Arbor Day Foundation and Bank of America to bring free trees to Frankford and Holmesburg, as well as plant hundreds of trees in Northeast Philly. Ready to be part of the fun? There are two ways to get involved:

  1. Get a free tree and plant it in your yard! (Must live in the Frankford or Holmesburg neighborhoods)
  2. Help us plant trees! We’ll be planting at Pennypack on the Delaware and Tacony Creek parks.

Find out more info about how to register for your tree or how to volunteer at our planting days here.
